Since graduating, he has worked across the globe with leading lighting designers and high-profile clients in a wide range of genres, bringing creativity and precision to every project.

- Design
- With a meticulous eye for detail, Alex approaches each project with adaptability and creativity, tailoring designs to suit any environment. His experience spans theatre, concert touring, architectural installations, corporate events, and television, delivering impactful results no matter the setting. From intimate fringe venues to large-scale outdoor spectacles, Alex ensures every production—big or small—receives the same level of precision and artistry.
- Programming
- As a lighting programmer, Alex spends much of his time behind the console—whether in the UK or at venues around the world. Over the past eight years, he has honed his programming style on GrandMA consoles, crafting productions that bring the lighting designer’s vision to life. His work spans Europe’s largest stadiums, television studios, and intimate theatre spaces, adapting seamlessly to any production environment.
- Associate Lighting Design
- Alex has served as Associate Lighting Designer on numerous large-scale stadium productions worldwide, collaborating with some of the industry’s leading designers. His ability to quickly adapt to each designer’s style and requirements ensures a seamless creative process, regardless of the scale or complexity of the show.
- Spot Calling
- Having led local crews around the world, Alex is highly experienced as a spot caller, managing teams of up to 12 operators. With the support of translators when needed, he has guided crews from their very first time behind a follow spot to being show-ready for some of the largest productions in their region.
- Production Management
- Alex has built a strong portfolio in production management. Starting on a UK theatre tour with Forbidden Nights, he quickly developed the organisational skills and calm under pressure needed to keep a touring show running smoothly. More recently, he has production managed Manchester City’s pre-show light shows on behalf of StadiumFX, delivering for both UEFA and Premier League fixtures. Whether in a theatre, a stadium, or anywhere in between, Alex ensures every element is in place for a flawless production.
- Technical Direction
- Alex has experience in the role of technical director, bridging the gap between creative ambition and practical delivery. With a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of live event technology, he has worked extensively with clients across the Middle East, creating shows in challenging environments and remote destinations. From adapting technical designs to suit complex site conditions to ensuring smooth execution under tight timelines, Alex thrives in situations where precision and adaptability are key. Whether working with lighting, video, audio, or special effects, he ensures every technical element is delivered to the highest standard, no matter the location.
- Visualisation
- Alex Silvester Lighting Limited is equipped with industry-leading software and tools to deliver stunning, accurate 3D visualisations and detailed production drawings—from early concept renders to fully developed design presentations. Our in-house Depence studio allows us to pre-program entire productions off-site, ensuring a seamless and efficient workflow before arriving on location. By combining this with the power and flexibility of GrandMA consoles, we can translate your ideas into precise, dynamic lighting designs that look exactly as envisioned—bringing your creative vision vividly to life.
- Lighting Control Hire
- Alex Silvester Lighting Limited can provide complete GrandMA2 or GrandMA3 control systems for any production. With a well-stocked inventory of MA Lighting and Luminex hardware, we can deliver a fully show-ready control solution tailored to your needs. In addition, we offer a range of industry-standard visualisation tools, including Wysiwyg and Depence R4 licences, both available for hire—ensuring you have everything required to bring your production to life with precision and efficiency.
